      The podcast, "Thank Sex for Making the Internet Hot," describes the role that pornography played in making the Internet as popular as it is today. The first line of communication over computers was formed around forty years ago. One of the earliest search engines was Yahoo. Yahoo used to be the most widely used search engine. Data shows that porn was the most widely searched item on the Internet and this remained the case for many years. Only recently have people spent more time on something other than porn sites. These days, the number one thing people spend their time on the Internet on is social networking sites. The enormous interest in pornography led to the development of creating a secure system in which people can safely purchase products over the Internet. There was a great amount of porn purchased through online transactions. These days, people do a great deal of their shopping online. It's a quick and easy way to shop for a vast array of products while sitting comfortably in your own house. Pornography can also be recognized in helping to develop streaming videos online. After all, pornography is all about what you're watching. The high interest in pornography gave people the incentive to develop video over the Internet that would be clear and without breaks or delays. These days, videos over the Internet are extremely popular, especially on the website "YouTube."
      The Internet is so complex and diverse, along with a seamless framework, that I never really thought about it's origins and how it came to be so popular. Because of the great interest in pornography, the people involved in this business were able to make great improvements to the Internet that allowed for the satisfaction and convenience of their customers. I think I actually do more shopping online than in a store. The convenience of shopping online is so attractive that any disadvantages, such as not knowing how a piece of clothing will fit or what it will look like in person, are easily outweighed by the ease and simplicity of shopping online. You can sit on your couch, press a few buttons, and the product you ordered will be delivered to your doorstep within a few days. Videos online are as popular as ever. You can find videos of some of the craziest, coolest, funniest, and most bizarre things you will ever see. It did not come to a shock to me that pornography was the most searched item over the Internet for a number of years. It is still a very large and profitable business today. It did come as news to me that pornography helped to bring about some of the simplest aspects of the Internet that make it so popular in our society today. Although some people may disagree with pornography, you can't argue that it helped develop the Internet into an exciting area for people to perform a diverse range of activities and have access to a world of information, which could include just about anything you wish to explore.
